Clear Braces

Clear braces are an orthodontic treatment designed to align teeth without wires or brackets. Instead, you’ll use a series of removable, invisible aligners when worn. At Clark Ortho, many patients prefer this treatment option because it allows them to straighten their teeth without feeling self-conscious about wearing traditional metal braces. In most cases, you’ll notice an improvement in your smile within a few months, though you may need to wear your clear braces for longer if your teeth are severely misaligned and aren’t responding to treatment as quickly.

How Do Clear Braces Work?

Clear aligners are the removable orthodontic appliance that straightens teeth over time. The system uses a series of clear, BPA-free plastic trays that fit over the teeth and slowly shift them into position using gentle pressure the patient applies. You can remove your aligners for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. You can even take them out for special occasions or events when you’d prefer to show off your bright smile!

Each set of clear plastic aligners is worn for a set period every day and should only be removed when eating or cleaning the teeth. Patients wear new sets of clear aligners every two weeks until the teeth are in the desired alignment. At that point, the patient may only need to wear a retainer every night to prevent their teeth from shifting out of alignment again.

If you play sports or instruments that require a mouth guard, you can easily remove your braces when you need to and then put them back in when you’re done playing. Metal braces are not removable and require special tools to put them in and take them off. This can be time-consuming and inconvenient.
